Torre dei Cessi

G.B. Schellino, 1862-1864

Near the Town Hall, this building was once a barracks. It is a very significant work both from the architectural and functional point of view: it is, in fact, one of the first examples of public toilets. Even in this structure, you perceive some aspect of the eclectic neo-gothic style of the Cemetery, with something of the Arabian-style. They are always rather heterodox influences, suggestions rather than exact quotes of this style, as for example the round windows on the ground floor that are a decorative element of eclectic style.
